One of the highlights of Filharmónia Magyarország’s 70th anniversary season in Pécs is a special Baroque concert centred on cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and Francesco Bartolomeo Conti. One of the focal points of the evening is Bach’s BWV 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!, one of the most virtuosic works in the Baroque vocal repertoire, in which the festive dialogue between soprano voice and trumpet fills the concert hall with brilliance.
One of the soloists of the evening is the American soprano Robin Johannsen, a leading international figure in historically informed performance. She has appeared as a guest with the Wiener Symphoniker, on the stage of Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and at such prestigious institutions as the Berlin State Opera. A regular guest of Europe’s foremost concert halls and festivals, she is renowned for her technical brilliance, stylistic authenticity, and exceptional expressive power. Bach’s vocal works hold a particularly important place in her repertoire.
The concert features the Orfeo Orchestra and the Purcell Choir, bringing to life some of the most beautiful cantatas by Conti and Bach, and creating a unique musical atmosphere in which festive radiance and moments of profound stillness enhance one another.
The concert is presented in cooperation with the Haydneum – Hungarian Centre for Early Music.
